The holiday season is filled with traditions and delicious treats. From pumpkin pie to holiday cookies and Grandma’s fudge, sweets are everywhere during this time of year.

The issue is that too much sugar can negatively impact your body, particularly your blood sugar, making you feel fatigued, irritable, or simply "blah."

The good news? You don’t have to pass on all holiday sweets to stay balanced. With these few simple tips, you can enjoy the season guilt-free, without the sugar crash.

1.) Avoid Skipping Meals -

Skipping meals to “make room” for sweets usually backfires. It can lead to low blood sugar and cravings, causing you to overeat later on.

2.) Stay Hydrated -

Dehydration can increase your blood sugar. To prevent this, be sure to drink plenty. Try to get in about 12 cups of filtered water every day.

3.) Don't Eat Sweets By Themself -

Instead of eating sweets or carbs on their own, pair them with something. Pair them with proteins or healthy fats. This slows down digestion and lessens the glucose spike from sugar and carbs.

4.) Practice Mindful Eating -

If you’re going to have a treat, enjoy it fully! Slow down, tune into your senses, and savor each bite. This simple shift can help you feel more satisfied with less and reduce the urge to overeat.
